Precious.

April 30, 2008
What is the most precious item in your life? The one thing that you cannot do without. The thing in life you value the most. This question does leave some room for interpretation. There is no wrong interpretation. Please answer with what pops into your head first. Please do not over think it!

The most precious thing in my life is not an item, it is my sister.  She is always there for me, she is just about the only one who knows how to cheer me up when I am having a really bad day.  She is like my best friend, we get into fights but that just brings us closer together.  I love her and nothing will ever change that.

Only a Few Months…

February 7, 2008

High school is only a couple months away!  I am very excited about it and at the same time I am a little nervous.  I mean who isn’t?  I don’t think that it is going to be that bad because my friend’s sister is going to be a senior so she will be able to help us out.  I am excited to get out of middle school!  I like the teachers and everything but I hate being here for so long and there is nothing good going on, it’s always the same old stuff.  Also they don’t have a volleyball team and all the schools we play for the other sports do and I really like volleyball.  I will just be excited to get out of this school and my sister will move in I don’t like being in the same school as her I thought I was really weird in elementary school because we would see each other everywhere and at home I have to see her too and she just gets really annoying.  I think I will be okay with here coming in to the school as a freshman when I am a senior because hopefully we will like each other a little bit more by then.  Back to high school, I am really hoping to maintain my grades, I am happy with them now.  I would also like to become an even better student then i am now.  I am hoping that all of the drama will be turned down a bit.  I am sick and tired of getting into fights with my best friends over nothing, it happens all the time.  But if there was one thing that I could do in high school it would be to not change at all like some people that I have heard of.  If there is one thing that I hate the most it would be people that will change to either get cooler friends or change because their friends don’t like them or whatever, it just makes me so mad when people change just because they think that it’s a new beginning.  If you think about it, it’s not.  You have been going to school with the same people in middle school and even some in elementary school.  Be who you are and don’t change.

Martin Luther King Jr.

January 20, 2008

On this coming Monday, we do not have any school.  This is because of an amazing man named Martin Luther King Jr.  This man was born on January 15, 1929, and died on April 4, 1968.  Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia.  He died in Memphis, Tennessee. When he was there he said:

And then I got to Memphis. And some began to say the threats, or talk about the threats that were out. What would happen to me from some of our sick white brothers?

Well, I don’t know what will happen now. We’ve got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn’t matter with me now. Because I’ve been to the mountaintop. And I don’t mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land. And I’m happy, tonight. I’m not worried about anything. I’m not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.

This man was the youngest person to receive a Noble Peace Prize.  He was thirty five when he was awarded this honor.  We don’t have school because of all of his great accomplishments.

Here is a cute little quiz on Martin Luther King Jr.

Democrat or Republican

January 3, 2008
What is the difference between a Democrat and Republican?  When you register to vote at age eighteen, what party will you register for and why?

There are two main political parties in the United States Government, one being the Democrat the other being the Republican.  The Democrats are referred to as the Left Group of people.  The Republican group of people is known as the Right group of people.  The Republican Party is also referred to as the Grand Old Party.  It is also the younger of the two political parties.  The Democrat party is the oldest political party in the United States and can be argued as the oldest political party in the world.  Also, Democrats have a tendency to spend money on the well being of the citizens of the United States.  It’s not bad that they do this but it is also spending money that can be used for other things.  Also the Republican’s tend to spend more money on the things for the government instead of helping out the citizens.Personally I think that I would be a Democrat because if I was in the position of someone who needed help from the government then I would not get it from a Republican.  Yes both parties spend a lot of money but at least the Democrats will help the citizens of the United States.

Video!

December 21, 2007

This video is extremely funny.  I got a lot out of this video.  If you sit there looking at your problem it will not solve it.  In this video he is trying to open a notebook.  Then he has a friend come in and explains how to open and close it.  I got out of this video to don’t be hard to work with because then nobody will ever help you again.  Also be thankful for what you are getting from the person because the person is taking their time to help you.  I also got out of this video to keep trying, don’t just give up on it, if you keep giving up then you will never get anything done.

The Person Who Has Influenced My Life Is…

December 9, 2007

I would have to say my friends.  My friends have been through it all with me.  We have had our ups and our downs.  We end up getting over it and we are best friends again.  I think that without my friends I wouldn’t know what I would do.  I will go to them for advice and things like that.  There are just some things that you don’t go to your parents for, but when you have your friends there you can go and talk to them.  Friends are there for the midnight phone calls, the plans on the weekends, the random sleepovers.  Best friends are the ones who you can open up to.  It just feels really good when you know that you can talk to someone like that!  If you think about all the people in your life that have impacted you the most other than your parents, who would you choose?

I Wonder…

December 6, 2007

I wonder where I will be when I am older.  Will I have the job I want?  What college will I go to?  I have always wondered what I will become.  I hate the not knowing, the what if’s.  There are so many different things that we will never know.  Personally I don’t like that.  I don’t want to be in a place that I don’t like or a place that I don’t like what I am doing.

Who Do I Want To Be?

November 7, 2007

Today In History!

November 6, 2007

Today is November 6, 2007.  On this day, in 1861, James Naismith was born.  He was the inventor of basketball.  He died November 28, 1939.  He was born in Almonte, Ontario, Canada.  He died in Lawrence, Kansas.

This is James Naismith.

Without James Naismith there would be no basketball.  There might be but it would not have been as developed as it is now.  He was the physical education teacher at McGill University form 1887 to 1890.  Also at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts from 1890 to 1895.  As you can tell he was a very active man.

The thirteen original rules for basketball were:

  1. The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands.
  2. The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands, but never with the fist.
  3. A player cannot run with the ball. The player must throw it from the spot on which he catches it, allowance to be made for a man running at good speed.
  4. The ball must be held by the hands. The arms or body must not be used for holding it.
  5. No shouldering, holding, pushing, striking or tripping in any way of an opponent. The first infringement of this rule by any person shall count as a foul; the second shall disqualify him until the next goal is made or, if there was evident intent to injure the person, for the whole of the game. No substitution shall be allowed.
  6. A foul is striking at the ball with the fist, violations of Rules 3 and 4 and such as described in Rule 5.
  7. If either side makes three consecutive fouls it shall count as a goal for the opponents (consecutive means without the opponents in the meantime making a foul).
  8. A goal shall be made when the ball is thrown or batted from the grounds into the basket and stays there, providing those defending the goal do no touch or disturb the goal. If the ball rests on the edges, and the opponent moves the basket, it shall count as a goal.
  9. When the ball goes out of bounds, it shall be thrown into the field and played by the first person touching it. In case of dispute the umpire shall throw it straight into the field. The thrower-in is allowed five seconds. If he holds it longer, it shall go to the opponent. If any side persists in delaying the game, the umpire shall call a foul on them.
  10. The umpire shall be the judge of the men and shall note the fouls and notify the referee when three consecutive fouls have been made. He shall have power to disqualify men according to Rule 5.
  11. The referee shall be judge of the ball and shall decide when the ball is in play, in bounds, to which side it belongs, and shall keep the time. He shall decide when a goal has been made and keep account of the goals, with any other duties that are usually performed by a referee.
  12. The time shall be two fifteen-minute halves, with five minutes rest between.
  13. The side making the most goals in that time shall be declared the winner.

As you can tell there have been a lot more rules added to basketball.

Dell.

October 25, 2007

I have just recently gotten a Dell computer.  I use it all the time!  I use it for homework, talking to friends, and just about everything else you can think of!  I e-mailed Dell.  This is what I said to them:

In July, my family had just got me a pink laptop form you guys.  I have been so busy getting everything downloaded and doing homework on it and everything.  For one of the school assignment, that I am doing on my laptop, we had to choose a company of some sort and we had to ask you.  I chose you guys, since I got my laptop from you!  We have all Dell computers.  Nothing else I thought that was pretty cool!  I just wanted to let you know how much I love this new laptop that I have and I am trying to convince my parents to get one for my sister so we don’t have to share!  My question for you is, have your sales and marketing people given any thought to offering customer created designs?  I think that this would be extremely cool! I just wanted to say thank you so much!

When they e-mail me back I will put it up here!

 Who did/would you e-mail?
