YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2007 when …
1.  You accidentally enter your PIN on the microwave.
2.  You haven’t played solitaire with real cards in years.
3.  You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three.
4.  You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.
5.  Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don’t have e-mail addresses.
6.  You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.
7.  Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8.  Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn’t even have t he first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10.  You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.
11.  You start tilting your head sideways to smile.
J
12.  You’re reading this and nodding and laughing.

13.  Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.
14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.
15.  You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn’t a #9 on this list.

AND NOW U R LAUGHING at yourself.

I just thought this was funny!

If Only I Wasn’t Afraid

September 27, 2007

If only I wasn’t afraid, I would go on roller coasters.  I have always wanted to go on the roller coaster Superman at Six Flags.  I have not been on it because I am afraid of heights.  Also because I don’t like when things go too fast.  I also would like to be not afraid of spiders.  I HATE spiders so much.  I don’t like things with more than four legs and two eyes.  Some of them are so BIG and some are so small that I can either see them and they scare me or I can’t see them at all and when I do they scare me too.

 What are you afraid of?

Yes or No to Drug Testing…

September 27, 2007

Should students involved in extracurricular activities be tested for drugs?

I do not think that schools should be doing the testing.  I don’t think so because it’s the parents jobs to know if their kids are doing drugs or not.  I think that if a parent is completely against having their kid tested, then the kid should’t haveto be tested.  I think that the school is taking the roll of the parents.  The school should’t force the kids to do the test, if they think that the kid is doing drugs the should tell the parents, and it’s the parents job to say yes or no the the test.

What is your opinion on this topic?

The 13th Amendment…

September 20, 2007

Amendment 13 - Slavery Abolished. Ratified 12/6/1865. History

1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Not many people know about that 13th Amendment, I can say that this one is my favorite.  The 13th Amendment is the one that abolished slavery.  This happened December 6th, 1865.   This 13th Amendment states that slavery is illegal as of that date.  The definition of slave: a person who is owned by someone.  This amendment is extremely important, I am not saying that the other ones are not but, it gives us as Americans the right to not be or have slaves.  I like this amendment because I personally think that we as humans are equals, as male or female, black or white, or as any religion we are; everybody should be treated as equals.  Also, I think that it’s not fair if you are being make to farm, clean, or cook, just because you are a curtain gender, race, or believe in something else.

There are many other amendments, 27 to be exact, that I could have chosen but this one just stood out to me.  I knew everybody else was going to choose an obvious one but the 13th Amendment stood out to me!  I have always felt that everybody should be treated as equals.  When I heard that I got to pick my favorite amendment i knew what one that I was going to do right off the bat.

I got the 13th Amendment from here.

What do you think is the most important Amendment?

One WebDay

Life Without Internet…

How would you send you time differently before Internet?

Dad: Face to face conversations.

Mom: I spent time looking things up manually; phone books, maps, files, etc.

Uncle Jon: Play outside.  Going to the park across the street, play football, baseball, etc.  We will be at the park right after breakfast until dinner time on the weekends.

What things were harder to do without Internet?

Dad: Shopping, and Research.

Mom: Looking things up; simple things such as looking up directions, more complex things like make on-line purchases and take college courses.

Uncle Jon: Research, homework, keeping up with the news, and we had to write everything.

What things are easier to do with the Internet?

Dad: Privacy protection.

Mom: Everything!

Uncle Jon: Writing a resume.  Checking to see if everything is spelled correct, spell check.  Research, homework, keeping up with the news, and we had to write everything.

How has the Internet affected the way that you live and work?

Dad: Everything is a step faster and competition has become global instead of regional. Example: Selling a car.

Mom: WORK- I cannot perform my job without the Internet.  I am in the IT Dept. in my company and we use Internet based ERP software to run our business.  If we cannot access the Internet, the business does not run. LIVE: I would not be able to complete my college degree program without the Internet since my courses are dome completely on-line.

Uncle Jon: I don’t personally work with computers.  I play games on the computer, look up things, and that kind of stuff.

One Painful Day…

September 11, 2007

It’s been six painful years since September 11, 2001.  I have thought about that tragedy every single day since then.  It has been especially hard on me.  One because all of my family members live in New York, and I did not know if they were okay or if they were hurt, I was scared out of my mind for them.  Also, because my friends grandfather was in a boat fishing when the plains hit the buildings.  There was a photographer that took a picture of the buildings going down and in that picture, there was my friends grandfather in his boat.  When I saw this picture I was like oh my gosh that is unbelievable.

The first words that come to my head when someone says, “…September 11, 2001…” are, “wow, why, tell me the whole timeline of that day.”  The day that this happened I remember kid after kid was getting pulled out of class and leaving; we went from having 23 kids in class down to 9 or 10 kids.  The teacher could not tell us anything about what had happened.  I would have to say this was the most confusing day of my life.  I had no idea what was going on, and granted I was only in second grade.  That day, to me, feels just like yesterday, I can remember the details, and thinking that something extremely bad has happened, but not knowing what.  If felt like on of the days that you just have a gut feeling that something bad is going to or has already happened just the only thing is you have no idea when, where, or who it’s going to happen to.

When I got home from school that day my Mom and Dad had sat down with me, and told me everything that had happened.  The first thing that I remember asking was, “Is anybody hurt?”  I was told, “Yes, There have been a lot of people killed.”  I heard those words and I started to cry my eyes out.  I was crying because I had thought that my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents had all died.  I thought this because I had remembered that all of my relatives were living in New York.  I was so scared!  If you went to school one day and you had a gut feeling something was wrong, once you found out that there have been a lot of deaths in the same state as you relatives how would you feel?  You don’t know, espicially when you are in second grade.  I have to say that was the worst day of my life even though nobody that I personally knew had died it was still a painful day.

My Wish for You

September 6, 2007

“If you had one wish for any other person than yourself, what would it be?”

- If I had one wish for any other person it would have to be for all of the children in foster care.  I would wish that they had a caring, nice, and sweet family to live with.  I just don’t think that it is fair that they don’t get a loving family to live with when most of us do. =[ If you think about all of the things that we take for granted, for example some of us get to get new clothes for the beginning of school or even just for the sake of shopping.  Most of the people there are extremely excited if they get a new shirt.  My family and I are always donating clothes to them when the do not fit any more.  I feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I donate something.  I once donated food to the people in the homeless shelter; yes I do realize that it’s not the same as foster care, but it is still helpful and the people appreciate it; these people were so greatful I was so supprised because the food we gave, at least I thought it was gross but, the people there loved to just get something to eat.  I made me feel good when I could give them something and then have them try to give me money and me tell them no thank you I don’t want it.
